The Law Society’s Task Force on Compliance-Based Entity Regulation has launched a call for input and is seeking comments from lawyers, paralegals and others on options for a proactive approach to regulation. The Task Force has prepared a consultation paper that provides background information and sets out a series of issues and related questions for consideration and comment.
We are inviting your organization to respond to the call for input. We believe it is important to hear from the Law Society’s stakeholders on an initiative focussing on an approach to proactive regulation intended to help lawyers and paralegals improve their practice standards and client service.
We request that you provide your submissions by March 31, 2016, by one of three methods:
1. Through our online form
2. Email to email@example.com
3. Regular mail to: Call for Input on Compliance-Based Entity Regulation Policy Secretariat Law Society of Upper Canada 130 Queen Street West Toronto, ON M5H 2N6
We welcome your written comments based on the consultation. If you are interested in having a representative of the Task Force meet with your organization, please contact Margaret Drent by telephone at (416) 947-7613 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We would also like to make you aware of the Law Society’s free informational webcast on Monday, February 8, 2016 between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. that will provide lawyers and paralegals with an opportunity to learn more about compliance-based entity regulation and to ask questions of Task Force members. Information at the webcast will be offered in both English and French. Please register for the webcast by February 3, 2016.
Additional information about the work of the Task Force can be found at its webpage on the Law Society’s website at www.lsuc.on.ca/better-practices.
We welcome your comments and look forward to receiving your input on this important subject.
