Biography:

William Alexander Hamilton Duff was educated at Queenston. About 1873 he became associated with the Hamilton law firm Craigie and Freeman Co. Later the firm became Craigie, Freeman and Duff and later Duff & Barry. Duff engaged primarily in civil law. For several years he was a solicitor for Barton Township. In 1908 he was created kings counsel. For several years he sat on the bench as an acting judge. He was a leading authority on municipal law. A Conservative, Duff attended Holy Trinity Church Barton, and was a member of the Hamilton Club. One of his sons and his wife died the same day and he later moved to Toronto. Six months before he died, Duff moved to Westmount to live with his son.
