Job Description: The Hamilton Law Association is a professional association of approximately 1,000 members of the local Bar and Judiciary. Operating out of the John Sopinka Courthouse, the HLA has an identified mission to assist members in becoming successful, respected and fulfilled in their profession. Under the general direction of the Executive Director and Manager of Operations, the bookkeeper is responsible for the general oversight of all financial matters, except as otherwise indicated in the Hamilton Law Association job descriptions. Included in the responsibilities of the Manager of Finance are the following:
Responsibilities Include:
process all financial transactions in Sage 50 Premium Accounting Cloud Software platform
prepares quarterly financial reports for submission to Library funder LiRN
meets with Executive Director and Manager of Operations on a monthly basis to review financial reports.
works closely with the Librarian to monitor and balance Library Collections expenditures in relation to budgetary compliance and restraints
works closely with the Membership Co-ordinator & Library Assistant to monitor collection and recording of HLA membership fees
posts all year-end amortization and interest receivable
calculates, prepares and submits WSIB, HST and EHT reports as required
prepares quarterly statutory remittances report memo to Board of Trustees
records all credit card transactions in Sage Accounting
records registration and sponsorship revenue in a payments processed spreadsheet for all CPD projects and social events.
routinely monitors HLA staff HSBC MasterCard transactions and balances to ensure balances are paid promptly to allow for expected expenditures, prepares payment cheques for signature as required
balances petty cash account against record of cash disbursements and prepares petty cash reimbursement cheque as required
