    The firm has an immediate opening for a legal assistant, who is familiar with and understands the Rules of Civil Procedure. In this role, your tasks will include (but will not be limited to):

    Document Management, including set-up and maintenance of document databases, processing and organization of client documents as received, privilege review, preparation of Affidavits of Documents and Production of documents, assisting in the preparation of pleadings, motion materials, court orders, enforcement of judgment proceedings, including drafting Writs of Execution and Garnishment Orders, Bills of Costs, meeting with witnesses and preparing witness statements, day-to-day carriage of litigation files, communicating with clients, preparation of pre-trial and trial materials, agreements and settlement documentation. Duties also include summarizing and analyzing data and documentation from client and opposing party, transcript summaries, preparation of lists of Undertakings and Refusals and answering Undertakings.

    To be successful in this position the candidate will be tasked to:

    • Manage assignments and priorities to ensure deadlines are met;
    • Prepare Court documents and agreements;
    • Proofread and pay attention to detail to ensure accuracy and to ensure documents are prepared in accordance with the Rules of Civil Procedure;
    • Produce, manage and ensure accuracy in electronic exchange of documents.

    Skills Required:

    • 5+ years of experience
    • Excellent knowledge of litigation support applications including database loading, cull, and production, specifically: ACL, PrimaFact, PCLaw, Word and Excel, Windows Explorer, ability to problem solve within the applications as necessary.
    • Excellent knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure and the Courts of Justice Act
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills
    • Majority of the work can be completed remotely. Computer and printer can be provided on a loan basis, if necessary.
    • Position is on an as needed basis, with a minimum of 25 hours per week.

    Compensation is negotiable.
